EXPERIENCES | events, gatherings, collabs that cultivate community
I’m back in Toronto after spending 5 months living in Austin, and the first thing I’m doing is co-hosting this incredible event. Permission to Pivot is for women looking to navigate change in their career or life, alongside some industry experts. And if that’s not exciting enough, come to graze on Olive & Fig snacks and sips from Barbet, and maybe make a friend or two, IRL. A handful of tickets are left if you’d like to join. Oh, and there will be gift bags.
Speaking of new friends, I often hear that it’s difficult to make new friends as an adult. But it doesn’t have to be. I put together this list of 5 companies that help you make friends over beautiful dining experiences, because who doesn’t love breaking bread together? 🥖
I’m dreaming of hosting dinner parties, afternoon tea in the garden and community conversations this summer in Toronto. Want to co-host something magical? Send me an email at palak@embiria.ca with your idea and let’s bring it to life.
ICYMI, I post weekly roundups over on IG of events + happenings in Toronto and Austin, so follow along if you want to be in the know! 👀

Even though my first job was at Bank of Montreal at age 15, I mentioned in Vol. 001 that I’ve decided to level up my financial savviness so I can be financially free earlier than 65. This podcast by Ramit Sethi has been really great, along with his new Netflix show, How To Get Rich. 💸
I love everything Enid Grace does. She has a lovely little mercato in PEC called Piccolina, and now she’s started a Substack called Shaking Out The Tablecloth with delicious recipes, travel inspiration and more. Very dreamy!

Open just opened (😉) a brand new studio in LA. I suggest checking it out if you’re there IRL. Otherwise, you can try all of their classes for free for a month using their awesome app. Get ready to zen out with breathwork, meditation, movement and more.
Toronto is really stepping up its pastry game. In just the past few months, Bakery Pompette, Ma Maison and Romi’s have all opened. Give me all the babka!
Is it just me, or is everyone playing pickleball now? Want to get in on the action, or learn what the heck pickleball even is? Check out Fairgrounds in Toronto. 🏓

I already own the dish set from Fable, but I’m eyeing these glasses and will be putting on this Summer playlist when I’m hosting 🎶
I’ve loved Magnolia long before I met Joanna Gaines’ mom while visiting Waco, Texas earlier this year, but their summer collection “Savour” has me loving it even more 🧺
Indigo is always a great spot to pick up the latest trends at affordable prices, like this Mediterranean collection

INSPIRATION + OTHER HAPPENINGS
We’ve officially entered the florals on everything era. I’ve been obsessing over flourishing edible works of art and may have to try baking Loria Stern’s Eat Your Flowers cookie recipe, ordering a cake by Gallz Provisions just because, or sampling the new beautiful floral brownies by Olive & Fig. Flowers + treats seems like the perfect combo to me. 💐
Until next time,
